I found this book most helpful in reminding me why we pray. I use it to help jump start my day and find prayers I need for myself ( but did not realize at that moment that's what I needed) and people around me.As I'm writing this it's a dull and cloudy day. The sun appeared from behind the clouds and I feel like GODS light is on me.
While I generally prefer the paper version for non-fiction books, I purchased this eBook so that I would have easy access to a prayer book on my Kindle when travelling.The prayers are lovely. They are all in English and simple to understand. Most of the standard ones are there, plus many that I hadn't come across before. The selection is quite extensive - pretty much a prayer to cover just about any occassion. Most of the prayers are short, and there are usually several prayers for each category.The book is well arranged and formatted. A hyperlinked Table of Contents (TOC) is included, with each prayer listed. The Kindle Search function worked well - I used it to locate "Our Father", which did not have an individual entry in the TOC, because it was included as part of several other prayers.NB. To access the Table of Contents (TOC), on my Kindle Keyboard, I simply press Menu > Go to > Cover. The TOC starts two pages after the cover. After clicking on a link to view a prayer, pressing the Back button takes you back to the TOC. Very easy.
There is a prayer for every instance of struggle or thanksgiving. If you can feel the need ...there is a prayer here for it.
Excellent and easy to use.
The table of contents is in the preview, but when I borrowed the book it doesn't show up on my kindle. The book is useless without it-I don't understand...........
Good all round prayer book for Eastern Orthodox Christians. Has all the standard prayers, prayers for most occassions, and Morning and Evening prayers drawn from the Fathers and the Offices of Orthros and Vespers. Translations in English will vary from Author to author. The translation used by Coniaris is not the more popular ones in use in some cases , but close enough not to trip you up.
