This is a nice book if you are just getting into the GoPro camera technology. This book explains a whole lot of how to do things and go about things. It's worth the money to buy it you are a beginner like we are.

Pretty much the definitive book on the go-pro session. Great information on getting started and programming your go pro to your I-phone, I-pad. Easy to understand, good pics, good diagrams. I think it is a necessity if you own the go pro hero session. We own two of them, and this book was essential, and not too expensive.

This is a pretty decent starting point for using the GoPro Session. Unfortunately, a lot was taken from other books in the series (HERO 4 BLACK, SILVER, etc). so there's not that much original content outside of the form factor stuff. That being said, it's a great book if this is the only one in the series that you have to read.Informative information on the settings, mounts, uses and (most importantly), when to use each setting. All-in-all, this is a good book and certainly worth the money.

This is a great book if you are just getting into the GoPro camera's. This book explains a whole lot of how to do things. It's worth the money to buy if you are a beginner.

I was very happy with this book, it does a good job of going step by step through all the camera features, the mounts, and the software for someone with no familiarity with GoPro. To the person who complained about it referring you to apps, I do still have some issues with transferring files, but you DO need to use a GoPro app to do pretty much anything beyond a very few things with the camera, you definitely need one if not both (free) GoPro apps to get files off the camera, it does not function like a regular USB drive. I purchased this book after being extremely disappointed with the GoPro for Dummies I borrowed from the library, which was way above a "Dummies" level, not to mention the 2015 edition did not have anything about the Session version of the camera.

Yeah, it's ok if you wanna do fancy stuff. No surf in the deep woods where the hogs and deer reside. Nice pics, tho.

Love these Sessions 4 & 5, so simple and reliable. I am typically using three cameras; helmet, handle bar and stick.

Contains a lot of information, some sections you have to read several times - end result is you learn how to take professional videos.

I was recommended this book by a colleague. I love it too. It is about the initial stages of the computer revolution, yet reads more like a collection of entertaining short stories. It is far from a dry read. Included in the front are short descriptions about people and devices mentioned or interviewed. If you're a software developer this actually explains why IDEs mark errors with red. If you're a gamer, you'll learn about the first video game. (It wasn't Pong). I haven't red the entire thing yet, but it's still a good read. External links give you further details and some are entertaining. The book may be titled hackers, but there isn't anything illegal or even ill-intented. It was about the pursuit for knowledge and efficiency. This is a must for serious software engineers and computer science. If for nothing else then leisurely reading. There is a fair amount of discussion of assembly language, which is seldom covered in even college classes, usually one class for a single assignment or chapter. Not much is explained in detail so the education level to understand the book completely is fairly high. There are a bunch of inside jokes, but I do think that an average college student could understand 90-95% of the book.

I first read this book in the early/mid 1980s when I was a Navy electronic tech. One shipmate had the Texas Instruments computer, another had the Atari 800XL. I got my 800XL shortly after. We were playing games from the companies detailed in this book. It was great reading of the authors of our games, putting details to the names. Learning how the whole "PC Revolution began, and the earlier history of the MIT whizkids and the TMRC. I was just really getting into it in 1984 when the bottom dropped out of the electronic/computer game industry, nearly ending it. Luckily it made a comeback. The games got better as the machines were upgraded and improved. Being on the fringe of hacking myself, I could see the very different approaches of Commodore and Atari management, exactly as detailed in the book. Actually living through this while reading Levi's book mde it much more "real" and appropos to me. I can understand people much later being less impressed, as they don't have the context of these events actually playing out.I look forward to rereading it, and seeing what new info is presented. This book played a huge part in my going into a 24 year IT career after leaving the Navy. But programming now has become a heartless industry compared to how it was twenty-plus years ago. Wish I'd been born earlier, in time to take part in the earlier history of hacking and programming.

The book is funny, informative and impossible to put down! Having grown up through the infancy of personal computers, including nearly a one-year stint as a TRS-80 salesman, I laughed often out loud as I followed the adventures of Greenblatt, Gosper and dozens of others in Levy's tales. No other book I have read gives the genealogy of both hardware and software in their embryonic periods so well as this tome. "Hackers" now has a much friendlier connotation for me than it once did now that I appreciate the openness and positive nature of the Hacker Ethic. The news media have made the hackers out as scum/criminals/bandits/general bad guys - Levy casts them in a much different light.The book is great for its humor and history in the 96th percentile of each category! Buy it and be prepared to laugh and learn!

Hackers by Steven Levy is an excellent and rich book detailing the timeline of computer hackers and the hacker ethic. The book starts with the various exploits of MIT hackers and the model railroad club in the early 1950s working IBM computers such as the 704, and the infamous TX-0. The book travels all the way to the 1980s and the Siera On-Line game company and the death of the open source hacker ethic. The book does an excellent job of personalizing the signature characters of the computer revolution proving the point that excellent hackers aren't necessarily the people who graduated with straight A's from MIT, Harvard, or Stanford. The book seems personal but also extremely informative while inspiring the same creativity that drew the hackers of the 20th century to computers.Hackers also does an excellent job of promoting and almost idealizing the infamous Hacker Ethic developed initially in the 1950s by the first computer hackers. The ethic consists of a focus on open source technology, cooperation, and an intense disapproval of the corporatization of computer software.Overall, Hackers is an excellent book if you enjoy computing history and getting into the nitty gritty of how many of the worlds most popular software innovations came to be.

I have a large collection of books regarding the "computer revolution" and was afraid that this will be overlapping with certain stories. I was wrong. While it slightly touches those anticipated overlapped stories, it mainly deals with the "underdogs" of the revolution, slightly mentioning succesful business entrapeneurs such as Steve Jobbs, Bill Gates, and John Carmack. It overly deals with the true meaning of hackers and their ethic, as their embrace of their philosophy made today's technology as it is. Almost 500 pages long with no pictures, it is written in a style that makes you a part of the past, as you where one of the "hackers" per se. Anyone who owns a computer should read this book to understand the word the media has slung into an incorrect meaning and to find more appreciation for their workstation besides browsing Facebook!

I selfishly have read the first 12 "can't put 'em down" books, before taking the time to write my review of the first book, and am writing it now, only because I have a break while I await the publication of the 13th book... and because I love this author!:)Caution: Spoilers ahead.All the greatest stories are founded on the never ending war between good and evil.The characters in The Children of The God series are literally larger than life, especially Kian, the leader of his clan of Immortals, and son of Annani, the only remaining goddess in existence. Kian and his sister Amanda live in America, in a secure compound with others of their kind. Their immortality is kept a secret from the rest of the world, although they actively work and socialize with humans. They are the good immortals. They've been at war for centuries with another, much larger group of immortals, lead by a wicked man who is intent on the destruction of Annani and her descendants...I liked Lucas' concept of gods and goddesses, and their immortal children existing, and thus being the foundation of so many of the myths and legends found in our cultures. The gods and immortals are flawed as are humans. Some are very good and some are wicked...In a creative twist, the immortals have venomous fangs that are induced by aggression or arousal. They are able to "thrall" the minds of humans into forgetting, which suggests immortals may be the basis for the many vampire legends. Some immortals have additional paranormal abilities, which leads Annani's daughter, Amanda, a neuroscientist and researcher working at a university, to postulate that humans with paranormal abilities may actually be dormant immortals. She searches for "dormants" through using her research into paranormal abilities.Lucas' characters are unique, richly interesting, and they have depth. I generally do not like reading sex scenes, because so often the are crudely or poorly written. Lucas is an exception. She writes about lovemaking tastefully and well. It is a pleasure to read her books.On a final note, Lucas' story describes a world in which those in power who are good, try to lift up the rest of the world and help others. Those who are evil, spread the evil using their power, wealth and greed. Unfortunately, we are seeing this today in our world in the treatment and oppression of women, children and gays in some cultures of our world.Let us hope that good, will ultimately conquer evil in reality, as it usually does in fiction.

I stumbled on this series looking for something to read that is close to J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series.I LOVE IT. I'm on the 7th book currently and I love the storyline. The characters are awesome and the immortal touchkeeps it interesting. I especially love the characters Annani and Kian. Even though the series is "immortal", the conversationsare believable and the romantic scenes not as far fetched as some of the romance out there. I downloaded the first 11 booksas a package deal through Amazon and have now downloaded books 12 and 13. You won't be disappointed!

Ok, these are probably the BEST books I have read in a long time. The writer is extraordinarily talented in bringing her cast of characters to life. Although the premise of immortals may seem unbelievable to some, the way Lucas writes makes you believe you could sit down and have coffee when any of them. Well, almost any of them:) You will have to read to see which ones you want coffee with! I devoured each of these books in order. I couldn't put the series away. Usually I read a couple in a series and then move on to something else. I read one right after the other until I had read all of them and now can't wait to read the next one. I truly look forward to these. Not having been one who typically reads a book with steamy sex scenes (yes there are some - so if that will offend you - don't read) but these are so well done and such an integral part of the stories. You will have to read the books to find out why! If you like mysteries and love stories that are not typical --written by one of the best authors I have read in a really long time then please pick up the first book and read then in order. Do you have to read in order - no, but you will enjoy them so much more if you do. With summer coming up these would be great to take on vacation. Thanks Ms. Lucas for a great series!

I never thought I would love a romance series about vampire ish creatures. So predictable! But not in the hands of Ms. Lucas. So cleverly done... a true storyteller. I read mostly thrillers but have taken to romance and other related genres to find out how to make a story that draws a reader to read all nine books in a week and a half. I even glided over the tons of glaring English and typo errors. A good edit can cure that stuff but only the author can make me want to read more. Loved the characters and their crazy dilemmas. Didn't love the overuse f "hissed", 'snorted' and "blushed". Again easy fixes to a really good read that took me through a nasty bout of flu. Thank you Ms. Lucas. I love your immortals!!!

I had read every book in the series to date now waiting impatiently for May I was looking to go back and re-read when I found the first book of Annani's story. I am anxious to read the rest. I would like to say that I read all the book up to Turner and Bridget's final book in a matter of weeks. I was so into the stories, the world Lucas created, and the lives of all the characters I couldn't put the books down. I would read into the wee morning hours not even realizing time was passing and have to stop reading without wanting to so I could get enough sleep to be able to take care of my children. Lucas, is you read this please know that I love the way you created an amazing world and story that is enthralling and addictive and I can't wait to continue to support you as an author and read everything you choose to write...you have a supernatural gift for story telling! 😊
