As a bibliophile and book collector, I have a number of art books showing beautiful libraries. Until now, however, I had never come across a book like this one. It is a collection of artwork whose main theme is persons reading.In all I honesty, I enjoyed this much more than I expected to. The artwork is varied in time and style, and is well-selected. There is a valuable opening essay and a number of the pieces have descriptive paragraphs attached. There are quotes about reading scattered through the pages. I expect this is a book I will dip into time and again.

Exactly what I wanted. I love the pictures and the info. Very well done.

Just like the 4th book in the series, this book felt like filler.I am a fan of Ken Lozito and the First Colony books, however, 50% of this book was spent following a character. It could have been done in a more concise way.I also feel that enough time has been spent on the Ryklars.How about new tech? FTL to go back to earth? It might be too early for this, but the ground work can be started in next book.I do still enjoy these books and will continue to buy.

Conner finds life and when he does, it becomes a mission of discovery to figure out to communicate with this NEIIS soldier or is he? What happens when you have first contact and how do you know what their intentions are? I enjoyed this story because Conner's background as a soldier and his ability to think through things becomes a real force in understanding the NEIIS. To find the original inhabitants of the planet is one thing, but to understand how they fit into all strange things on New Earth such as animal life and were they created as weapons of war? I found this a question that I had hoped to get answered by the end of the story, but the story continues. This book leaves a lot of room for the story to continue to unfold as there is intrigue with the new governor and some top people at Sierra so I can't wait to see how this unfolds going forward. Ken writes a great story and I look forward to his next work. One of better writers in my opinion.

The book didn’t get past the first page before the first eyebrow reference. I thought the previous book was ridiculous with the eyebrow references, he’s stepped it up in this book.In a span of 8 lines of writing, Connor has three eyebrow movements that somehow need to be added to the story. At this rate by the end of the book the people will no longer be speaking with their mouth, they will all be communicating with just their eyebrows dancing all over their faces.

I am so engrossed with these character and the story line, I will be sorry to read the last page of book six. I will miss sharing my lunch and spare time with these characters. I haven't felt this way since reading "Bag of Bones' by Stephen King. Which was outstanding. Mr. Lozito has developed each character to the point of feeling like a close friend is sharing a vacation or experience they have had. I love the man character 'Connor', who is a powerful entity. Caring for those around him and willing to die in the quest of maintaining their safety. I have always been one to wonder "what's over that mountain". Or wondering where this road goes....love the adventure of the unknown, and these books have been all of that for me.I you want to participate in a roller coaster ride into our future, then read all six of these books. Excitement on every page.

This novel has managed to keep the series going in a much more interesting plot twist than previous installments. Honestly, I put this series down after book three, read a couple other books before I picked this series up again. The author has left himself a broad list of possibilities where he can take this series. It took a long time to develop this story but it has been worth it.

Discovery was an excellent addition to the series and sees Connor and Noah tasked to explore an unknown and recently discovered NEIIS site. That's about all I can say really, as anything else will reveal too many details of the plot and the secrets found in Discovery are best left to the reader to......well....discover. Suffice to say this latest book in the series had plenty of action, more plot developments and mysteries surrounding the disappearance of the NEIIS (the former inhabitants of New Earth). Looking forward to the next book in the series :)

Connor goes on an excursion to another site but diverge to other and found the incredible... NEIIS'S on stasis pods. A new adventure through New Earth, following an NEIIS that's survived. The NEIIS kidnap Connor and the adventure is one rescue through the continent. At the last,everything reduce to humans self preservation or genocide and the consequences... To add to everything apparently the governor side's maybe are planning a coup of the CDF with the consent of the governor...

I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to follow this series after the Vemus were finally exterminated but the last 2 books have been as entertaining as the first 3 and I'm looking forward to seeing how this new story line develops. As long as the author keeps writing, I'll keep reading.

This is an awesome book that can grow with your child and teach a variety of important facts about some of the foods they see and eat. There is a lot of information that can be used in a lot of ways, at different comprehension levels. I ordered this book, and its companion book "The Vegetables We Eat" for primary school lesson plans. One look through this book and my mind was whirling with all the different activities and learning approaches possible. It is bright and colorful, with pictures and information to keep your interest, at any age! I LOVE THEM BOTH!

Cute book. We have the Vegetable counterpart to this book and my 3 year-old loves it, he started asking me about fruits so I found this one on Amazon and of course he loves it! Love the pictures and how informative it is, which for a 3 year-old it answers all of his 1 million questions on how fruits grow.

This is a well recommended book, but needs more photos and colored photos. If you are trying to teach yourself with out anyone to help you....well good luck. That's more than I could do with this book.

I am trruly amazed at the amount of research that was put into this book. it's awesome! It tells me everything I need to know and a lot of triviia that's good to know. the formulas in the back I find to be an especially nice touch

I live in the desert; when I look out the window now, I no longer see pesky sage brush and annoying goat heads and pushy, intrusive shrubs and cactus. I see the living, breathing, quietly waiting elements of medicine for human health. I see the possibility of caring for ourselves in a world that has become toxic to ordinary people in ways our ancestors couldn't imagine. I'm very, very grateful to Mr. Moore for the legacy he left; we are stronger for his having lived.Hyperbole aside, the book is an invaluable reference. Not only does it describe the desert medicinal plants in excellent detail and provide information on preparation and usage, it also contains valuable insights into the preparation of medicinals in general and cleared up a few questions I didn't realize I had about the making of tinctures. My methods are better thanks to this book. That means my medicines will be more effective; no small thing.A lot of my reading material these days is in electronic form. Generally, just the books I think of as "happy trash"; those novels and stories that amuse me but that could evaporate tomorrow and leave no one much the poorer for it. But, I am keenly aware of which books should never be kept only in electronic form. We need printed books very, very much because they contain the potential to outlast electricity. This isn't a small consideration anymore. This book of Mr. Moore's should definitely be in your analog collection. It needs to last. Buy two copies to be sure.

This is the best book for Medicinal Plants information. We couldn't find our first one we bought years ago and so we bought a new one.

Awesome book, lists specifics on constituents of each herb, preparation, and how and where to harvest each plant. I live in NW Florida, and still found this book more useful than ones written about the east coast plants.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this Anne Geddes 2017 Timeless Wall Calendar!!I have purchased her calendar every year for about 22 years (or however long they have been out) because I just adore Anne Geddes' work, with the exception of a few times when I tried other publishers' "babies" calendars because Anne Geddes was sold out.I have NEVER been disappointed with the EXCELLENT QUALITY of AG calendars, yet the 3 other brands I purchased all made me say "NEVER AGAIN" will I buy a brand other than AG because the quality of OTHER calendars has NEVER matched the Anne Geddes calendars. Sure, the others have some GORGEOUS photos of babies, but the paper / cardstock used in the AG calendars FAR SURPASSES ther other brands.I write birthdays, special moments, appointments, etc. on my calendars and the AG calendars have always stood up to that WITHOUT any indentations on the photo for the following month when I have written on the calendar boxes for the previous months. For example, when I wrote my MIL's January bday on the other Calendars, the February photo for the OTHER brand calendars were always indented from writing on the date section for January. That has NEVER happened w/the Anne Geddes calendar, & why I bought another one this year. Last year I purchased another brand because AG was completely sold out & I needed a calendar... and since it had been several years since I bought another calendar brand, I quickly realized the paper / cardstock was probably HALF of the Anne Geddes calendars. Lesson learned, & this year I ordered mine EARLY :).VERY happy & will be back! I would LOVE to see some more ORIGINAL photos. This year has a lot of repeats or photos that are very similar to her already well known photos. I would like to see some NEW poses :).I would purchase this & other AG calendars again! LOVE THEM!!

I love Steve Berry’s books, his clever plots, and his well-painted characters, but this one left me flat, for four reasons: one general and three specific.In general, as a Catholic, I am used to authors such as Berry who dislike Catholicism, Christianity in general, and religion as a whole. Nothing new in our ultra-secular, materialist culture and it sells well. Criticism is good and necessary and often humorous. Few can argue that either faith in general or the Church in particular cannot benefit from it. But what I read was not criticism or poking fun but disdain. It is gratuitous, unnecessary, and in my opinion harms the story’s appeal.Specifically, three things consistently cause the book to ring hollow throughout, taking the energy out of the book. One, all the clerics in the story are monsters. Not one or two multifaceted characters who have chosen evil in certain actions, but all grotesque caricatures. One monster cleric is believable, but all clerics being monsters makes the bad guys ridiculous and unbelievable. Silly rather than scary. That hurts the story. At least one lowly good guy priest should have been included to make it more believable. Or a priest who does evil things believing that they are good or believing that they are necessary for a greater good. Ends justifying the means, etc. Grey is a lot more interesting and believable than everything being black or white.Second, not a single cleric or person related to the Church displays the most basic faith. Even if one believes that the Church and the Catholic faith are wholly invalid, the fact remains that priests, bishops, and archbishops do have faith. Some to be sure are cold, calculating, power hungry, and criminal, but they retain a basic faith, even if they choose evil. Even if they all lost their faith over time, they would at least speak with the language of faith, instead of the language of murderous bureaucrats as in the book.Third, finally (spoiler alert), the plot revolves around a lost 4th century blueprint document that instructs bishops on bogus doctrines to create the Church and control the masses. Again, even if one believes that the Church, its doctrines, and religion in general are wholly invalid, it is completely unbelievable that the Church or the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem - a 906 year old Catholic lay religious order whose motto is to defend the faith and serve their Lords the poor and sick - would keep a copy of such a document. I was expecting something more clever than a piece of paper that says ‘the Church is bogus’.

I think "The Malta Exchange" is Steve Berry at his best. I tend to disagree with those who feel otherwise. I will say right up front that I'm an avid Steve Berry reader and always eagerly await his next novel; I've read them all. I love historical fiction, and whereas, I can't place Berry's works in that category, I do enjoy the addition of those little known historical facts woven into his storylines. This is what I enjoyed most about "The Malta Exchange." I learned a lot about a period I otherwise would not have studied. Having read Berry for so long, I tend to know now what is pure fiction and what isn't. When I read his windup at the end, I'm usually not surprised anymore at what turns out to be fiction. And after all these years, I still am amazed at how artistically creative he is in his writing to be able to weave real historical facts into the storytelling the way he does.I've always loved the character of Cotton Malone, even if at times, he seems too good to be true. Berry has developed him well and is consistent from novel to novel. Recently, he's introduced Luke Daniels, and I admit to having trouble finding the same love for him, but that fact does not take away from how engaging I found this book. Yes, it's fiction...and at times...some situations that he manages to get out of may feel like a stretch...but that can apply to so many works nowadays that we find entertaining. After all, Malone is the main character. Do we really want him to be killed off? Nay!I found it hard to put this novel down and read it at night before going to bed in just a few days. I recommend it as one of, if not the best, of Berry's works.

I love this writer, however, this book did not develop the NEW characters, and spent WAY too much time explaining Catholic doctrine in detail. It was a relief when it ended. Never thought I would feel this way about anything this author wrote.

I’ve read and own ALL of Steve Berry’s books and always find them captivating and thrilling. I love the historical implications and Cotton seems like and “old friend”. The Malta Exchange has been just an OK read for me, I think there was too much going on with Luke and Cotton having separate story lines most of the book as well as too many points of view from the other characters. Also Luke’s flasbacks to life lessons learned growing up in Tennessee, his multitude of mentions of his Morher’s wisdom, etc. slowed down the action quite a bit and I had a hard time getting through the book with enjoyment of every word.One interesting thing that gave me food for thought was Cotton thinking about the Malone bloodline ending with him and his unease regarding that. Perhaps there is a baby in his and Cassiopeia’s future?

Steve Berry writes history and I love reading history and this book has lots - a whole lot - more than expected. The book is extremely well researched. Very well written. But.....too much of a good thing can spoil the batch! I would normally give Barry's book a 5 star rating. This time is a 4 because, well, too much history. The plot gets lost in this history. I, a history lover, skimmed a few parts. I never do that while reading Berrys books. Never.

I really love this series. This book is no exception. Just when I think there isn't much more to explore, Steve Berry comes up with another interesting plot. I learn a lot more history from the author's explanations of what is true and what is fiction than I really did in almost all of my history classes in school. This series always has an intriguing twist or spin on history with a "what if" thrown in for good measure. If you liked the previous books in the series, I say you should give this book a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. Have at it! I can't wait to read the next one.
