How does someone review the most emotional, roller coaster ride of a series conclusion they've ever read? In truth? I'm not really sure but I have a lot of feels that I'm struggling to put into words.I adored A Darker Shade of Magic when I first visited the four Londons of V.E. Schwab's world. It quickly made my list of must-read fantasies. Then came A Gathering of Shadows and all hell broke loose. So much happened and so fast that I was left in a daze upon finishing and forced to wait for what seemed like an eternity until A Conjuring of Light released.Honestly, I was dreading the release a bit because it meant the end of the Shades of Magic series and I wasn't ready for that. I'm still not ready and I've already read it. So right, the book. Was it good?Do you really need to ask me that?I'll start by saying that while A Gathering of Shadows was crazy action and all sorts of things happening at once, A Conjuring of Light slowed things down a bit but not in a bad way. Loose ends needed to be tied up and I think of the three books, this was the most emotional both from the story perspective as well as reading it.AGOS left off on a major cliffhanger that's quickly addressed at the beginning of ACOL but that's not the worst thing the gang has to deal with this time around. Where the book lacked some of the action of previous installments, it more than made up for it with the relationships between all the characters. Everyone has a part to play and are forced to make heartbreaking decisions that had me flying from one page to the next.Goodness, this is hard without spoiling something from a previous book.So the big bad from Black London has decided to take over a new world and while it's a battle of who will come out on top at the end of the day, there's a lot of backstory dropped into this one that you don't see in previous books. Holland, for example, gets a whole damn history written for him and I was internally bawling (just wait, the tears broke through by the end). He's a character that I loved to hate in ADSOM, then he began redeeming himself (marginally) in AGOS, and finally came around in ACOL.Though he can't hold a candle to my ships. Last book we met Alucard and I fell in love with an unavailable "privateer" (I mean, Kell is my one true love so that's alright, I'll fight Lila). The sailor and Rhy needed a happy ending and I was screaming every few chapters because it was constantly under attack. There were moments I may have had a minor freak out. No big deal.Those two had the biggest struggle of my ships. To be honest, I expected more with Lila and Kell but the two had that unspoken relationship where you know they're a thing but nothing is ever said. It comes through their actions. They did relatively well throughout the whole book, though had their respective personal struggles as well as balancing the dynamic of the entire group.Somehow I've kept it together this far but just give me a moment. I have to talk about the ending.The ending.It's over.First, every time I see the word Anoshe I start tearing up (and yes, that includes when I typed it). But it's nothing compared to when I reached that first conclusion of the story. You know, that moment when everything is (relatively) alright and what's coming up is the wrap-up, the conclusion to the conclusion.I stopped reading, 17 pages to go. And I sat there, fighting the tears and the lump in my throat because somehow all those emotions snuck up on me. I don't cry very often, like ever really. And never over a book.Almost ruined the pages with tears, y'all. Moved it just in time.And so I picked up the book once more and I read those last 17 pages and closed it, completing the end of an extraordinary fantasy series. I have never had such a strong reaction to a series ending. Ever. And I'm not sure I will again.Don't let these books go to the wayside. If you haven't started the series and decided to read this review anyway, I'm very confused but alright, now go read them! And if you're putting off ACOL... I understand. You'll likely never be ready for the end but know that you're not alone in that. And I don't think there's anything else I can truly say as my heart hurts too much to put those feelings in words. I'll just leave you with one that, if it holds no meaning now, it soon will.Anoshe.

I held off my overall review of this series until this book, so here's my opinion of the previous installments:Book 1 was a satisfactory burst of originality, drawing enough comparisons to many other prior fantasy novels to be considered a member of that clique, but perhaps not original *enough* to set itself above or even high in that clique. Score: 3 and half to 4 stars.Book 2 continued to make a nod toward ideas that came before, namely the main event, the Elemental Games, which drew the obvious comparison in name to the Hunger Games but was actually more akin to the Triwizard Tournament from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The Games were less exciting than I expected, mostly because of the obvious parallel to those works (felt like I'd been there before), but also because the entire book was slow until it ended on a cliffhanger involving Kell, whose action which brought about the cliffhanger is rather unbelievable. Score: 3 stars.Now, for Book 3. If you've read to Book 2, you *have* to read the third book because of the damn cliffhanger. My issue with this book is the lack in character development. I've read other reviews that comment on the abundance of character development, reviews written by people who read the books in the same way I did (over a period of less than a week). With such an uninterrupted amount of time to simply read, it's clear who develops into a round character and who doesn't. In my opinion (and I acknowledge that there are many opinions that might not agree with this), no one developed in a significant way.Yes, Book 1 Rhy is a sheltered, spoiled prince but he's not a jerk and his desires to be a good brother, a good king, etc. remain the same throughout. Yes, Book 1 Lila is a lost little puppy without a purpose and by Book 3 she's found her calling. But her hasty, off-the-cuff actions are always used as a plot device to further the action.Yes, Book 1 Kell is flawed: arrogant, broody-without-a-cause, weak, too emotional. And Book 3 Kell is the exact same.All other characters might as well be considered wiser, weaker, or more damaged extensions of these three.The story was unpredictable, yes. But I found myself less thrilled and more confused by the erratic nature of the action. One of the things I liked about the first book was the lack in detail of the magic; any story about magicians that delves too far into the magic or starts introducing new magic in the final act loses credibility and by the end of this book, I felt that line had been crossed. It's probably a hard thing to manage, even J.K. Rowling wasn't immune to that pitfall (see Deathly Hallows). And, finally, as others have noted, the final pages left a lot to be desired. It's another pitfall: book got to be too long, had to end it soon, so the author just sawed it off and left it rough around the edges rather than smooth.It's not the worst book I've read, it's not the best series I've read. But if you started it, you have to finish it.

What an incredibly satisfying end to the series. I naturally had high expectations for this book after having loved the previous two books, but even still, this book surpassed my expectations. I cried throughout the final section of the book, not necessarily because of the actual events happening on the page, but because it was so emotionally fulfilling and felt like such a satisfying conclusion to everything. Everything I could have hoped for in a final book.

This was the most thorough and well organized Costa Rican travel guide that I purchased and was also the only one I referenced during my five-week trip. In addition to the abundance of information on hotels, hostels, regions, national parks, restaurants, etc., the most valuable component of this guide (for me anyway) were the bus schedules. Every other guide I looked through didn't have nearly as much information about schedules, routes, alternative routes, etc., and this information alone facilitated much more seamless travel days. Although the information wasn't always accurate due to terminals changing names/locations, bus companies discontinuing certain services, etc., the schedules printed in the book sometimes served as a general blueprint for the public transportation system, which was helpful in and of itself.

I'm a week into my stay in Costa Rica, and the guide has been helpful and accurate in general. Navigating the links to various topics is not always easy, though. The most frustrating thing I've found is that the pages at the end (about the last 5% of the ebook) have not properly downloaded. Formatting is scrambled up, and instead of advancing the same page will re-load time after time. That section deals with language and local expressions, so it would be a great help if only it workedW!

This was the best of all of the guide books and I checked out all of them! We used it every day and were really pleased with the recommendations.

Hogan's book is a short, but comprehensive analysis of the golf swing. His stated purpose of giving the average weekend golfer the tools to develop a repeatable golf swing has, in my opinion, been met. The fundamentals he espouses are few, and simple enough to implement without causing one to overthink. I found his views about grip and stance, and their importance in setting up the rest of the swing, particularly helpful. If you're a student of the game, this book is a prerequisite before reading the multitude of expert analyses of Hogan's swing that are available elsewhere. The advanced golfer interested in developing his/her knowledge of shaping shots and ball flight won't find information here. But if you're like me and want to develop better consistency of contact with all your clubs and eliminate anxiety as you stand over the ball, then this book is for you.

I'm a novice golfer that has been away for the sport for several years. Getting back into it I wanted to find a resource that took a simple and direct approach to the golf swing. I think I have found it. In a sea of technology, social media marketing and five steps programs to driving the ball 300+ yards, this book gets right down to business and what the golf swing is really all about. If you take the teachings and then go online and see the many slow motion videos of Mr. Hogan's swing, then you can really see how it all comes together. And the illustrations in the book are very effective and well done too. I'm a visual learner, so that was important to me. Lastly, I'll say that I love the way this book is written. Somehow it seems to give you a sense not just about the swing, but about the man behind perhaps the most beautiful swing in golf history. Very beautifully executed book.

Combating a little a stationary small ball with a stick for the purpose of sinking it in a hole 400 yards away with hazards to avoid on the way is a fascinating concept of a game to anyone beside golfers. Hogan went through how he mastered, if there is such a thing as he puts it, the game over decades of learning, practicing, and improving. Before I took golf at a later age I calculated how many strokes of 7 iron I need to do a 6000 yard course. The answer of course is 40 shots. I doubled that for putts and goofs which makes it 80. I thought there isn't much to master that game and it has been my daily challenge for 20 years. The book shows 8 specific motions to do that. Success is not guaranteed though. Very enjoyable reading.

This book is all any starting novice golfer will need for proper instructions on full swing. For short game, I will recommend Getting Up And Down by Tom Watson. I found numerous videos for tips available in Youtube largely useless or misleading especially for the novice. To learn powerful and repeatable full swing, this book is best because it explains all the steps from the grip to downswing as one coherent system that is what Mr. Hogan refers to as chain actions. Having said that, this book elicits some questions, as well. For example, though Mr. Hogan devoted Chapter 2 to stance and posture, unexplicably he does not talk about address. In two other equally great books, Getting Up And Down by Tom Watson and Golf My Way by Jack Nicklaus, the authors emphasize address should reflect so called hitting geometry in which the hands are ahead of the ball location. The reader of this book can only guess what Mr. Hogan's thought should be on proper address from one of the illustrations in the book, where remarkably to me at least, the club is held almost perfectlly vertical (pg. 24)! I can also see the same vertical address in numerous videos of him. Another example is the position of the grip at the top of backswing that he aptly refers to as the crossroad. He emphasizes in this book the left arm and grip should stay in the backswing plane which is defined by the shoulders and the ball location. This is a point I found very useful and follow. However, it is widely known that his grip at the crossroad was far below this plane and, as a matter of fact, one of the flattest of all PGA pros according to Jack Nicklaus. I wonder therefore whether his emphasis on supination (rotation of the hands/wrists in the hitting area) is a way to compensate for his low top position. The starting golfers should not mind this point and instead should focus on his teaching to stay on the backswing plane and that will work nicely. All in all, I have no doubt this is the first book any starting golfers should read and refer to whenever they have questions when they practice full swing. They will benefit immeasurably.

Played golf on and off for years with my game never improving, even with lessons. Frustration led me to this book that I selected based on its high ratings. In his book, Ben Hogan offers simple lessons of how to hold a club, the proper stance, back swing, and downswing. The lessons have significantly improved my game with me hitting good, straight shots. The distances for each club have increased twenty percent. The book may have been written in the fifties, but the lessons are timeless.

This is the only thing a golfer needs to read...i am sure there are things in here that do not apply to all golfers..but in general, this is the golf swing. You can spend thousands of dollars on lessons, aids, etc...( I know because i did!) and then come back to realize this is every bit of all that..condensed into a short book. I also learned the hard way that my parents knew what they were talking about! (Of course that cost me quite a bit more than golf did...but I'll,write that book review if my Dad can come back from beside the good lord and write it!)

Wish I read this 20 years ago when I first started playing the game. Over the years I learned things that made my game decently work. After reading this, it became apparent that my fundamentals were wayyyyyy off. This brought new perspective to my game. my arms would tire out by the end of a round due to over utilization of my arm muscles. Now, My swing is more efficient, repeatable and effective. The pastor John MacArthur mentioned this author so I ordered a copy of this book. I love the way Charles Spurgeon preaches. I know he's gone on to be with the Lord but he speaks to me like he's sitting right next to me. His phrasing, sentence structure and grammar are refreshing and Spirit filled. I was in the middle of this book when my washer broke down necessitating a trip to the local laundry mat. The book was so engaging I decided to take it with me. While there I became engrossed in a conversation with a follower of eastern religion and he turned out to be someone who needed to hear the Gospel from a believer. During our conversation...someone came in and took my book. Now neither one of us saw anyone enter the laundry mat during this time and he recalled seeing the book on the chair when he entered. Strange, but I guess someone needed that book more than I. I promptly ordered another...only to have it stolen out of my mailbox some weeks later! Imagine stealing a treatise on God's Word! Another needy soul I should think! This will be my third copy ordered...yes it is that good!

I absolutely love this book. I finished the first book, and I'm halfway through the second, and I've literally read every page two or three times, to really let the passages sink in, because they are so amazing. I probably would have finished the book already if I wasn't really enjoying and digesting it. I can't think of another book that I've read, that had me doing that. I feel so fed, reading this book, and it is such a good companion to bible study and prayer study. I have been trying to find books that talk about prayer, starting with Fervent, and I can't think of another book being better than this one. You wouldn't know this guy was from the 1800's the way the book is written. It's so easy to read, so thoughtful, and intelligent, and continually uses the bible to explain his messages. I find myself taking notes, how to better structure some of my most complicated prayer requests, and just feel overall better about how I'm praying. I have structure now, which I didn't have before. I didn't grow up in church. This book would be a blessing to anyone, and I'd highly suggest it for new believers.

What new can one say about this engaging writer of Christian classics.......C.Spurgeon not only explains his points extremely well but his presentation is masterful. Some paragraphs in his works makes you feel the Lord sitting right next to you gently explaining how everything is REALLY supposed to work and how His well-orchestrated plans can come together for us, if we'll only, just draw near, read his Word and listen. He reminds us that the Lord has already done EVERYTHING for us thru the Covenant with his Son and would never break His word to His own Son. So what are we worried about. Jesus can handle the evil one. We just need to pray with a passion for His intervention and watch Him do what He does best.......love us into submission while He defeats the foe. Truly, some of Spurgeon's thoughts are offered like prose. With his pen he paints sparkling sunsets, offers sweet calming melodies and at other times there is a stray bit of scartistic humor. It is very easy to understand why he led thousands upon thousands to the Lord and was an incredible shepherd.

Spurgeon's style is unparalleled. Everyone should read it but it is not a light read. It requires a great deal of thought and is thought provoking in the best sense. I highly recommend this book.

I never read an actual book from Spurgeon until I purchased this book so I can say I didn't know how it would turn about. Spurgeon's style is very comprehensible and all the more comforting. It will encourage any reader who has a relationship with Jesus Christ. Spurgeon emphasizes that God values us and loves us and ultimately that He will take care of our needs. We just need not to worry, but pray It's as simple as that. There are some great authors out there in our diverse world, but I can say that the simplicity and truth that Spurgeon talks about is wonderful! I will be getting more books from him as soon as I am finished reading this one!!

I checked this out for Christmas presents for this year, and found that the combination is excellent. I can hardly wait to give them out this year! Two of the books included here I gave out several years ago, but I like the fact that they are so easily accessable by being all together. I have access to all of the Pulpit and MTP of Spurgeon on my Kindle. This book has really nice print size and is easy to read for those who do not have Kindle and can still read regular books. Spurgeon readers will really get a blessing out of this. For those who are not familiar with the great preacher's work, this is a wonderful sample and will cause you to want to get more!!

Buy it and read it. Put it up on the shelf after, then a year later take it down and read it.The title is misleading. It's not about struggling with demons, or any horror movie stuff. It's about your prayer life, and how to pray. It's about your relationship with God and Christ. It is very Bible based, with no excursions into the bizarre.Spurgeon was good at step by step explanations.Those who are trying very hard, on a daily basis, to separate us from God, to marginalize God, to CHANGE God and His Word, to make us embarrassed about believing, to render God invisible in daily life will hate the very existence of this book. THAT is what the war is about, not devils and demons.I think you get the idea that I recommend this book.

I purchased this book for paramedic school, and overall really enjoyed the book. It was very readable and emphasized important points very well. It has a ton of practice ECGs to read as well as their interpretations of each in the back of the book. I took off 1 star here because it feels like each ECG was interpreted by a different person. One ECG which has minimal elevation is considered elevation in one and not the next. Same thing with pathological Q waves. Other than that, I really enjoyed it and was very informative.

Great book, easy to read. Had a little bit more writing and highlighting than I expected. But well worth the price paid! Thx!
