Holy macaroni!! That story was even better, funnier and juicier than the first book. The last line or so was a tad cheesy, but other than that it was totally fantabulous!!! :) :) :) ;)

Secrets of My Hollywood Life: On Location is yet another light and fun chick-lit read. Much like the first novel, we revisit the glamours life of Kaitlin Burke and of course someone is out to make her career bomb! The Hollywood secrets continue to be one of my favorite aspects of the book. I think that I would have enjoyed the book more had the plot not reminded me so much of the first book. I'd like to see Kaitlin deal with real issues, besides those revolving around someone sabotaging her career. However, I did enjoy the second installment and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

My daughter read the first book and this is the second. She was really happy and is reading it as I type this. She loves the Kaitlyn stories.

This was a great book. It taught me what it is like to be famous. It was very easy to read, especially because th main character had the same name as me. I would recommend this. It isn't Divergent or anything, but it was still a great book. I wish that they would make a movie based on this series.

My 13 year old is not a reader, but loved this book, and asked me to order more in the series!

So, I liked this book. But the editing was truly terrible. Well the mo st annoyi ng thing was th at al the sentences were like, this. Well, not all of them, but all of those problems came up at least once. Also there were up to 4 words with a random space in the middle of them a page. While this may just be because I transferred this book from my kindle to my iPad, I really don't know.

It really shows what Hollywood is like, and makes the words, characters, and emotions pop. For girls (and guys) 11-15, you will enjoy this book, and maybe want to get a taste of Hollywood life yourself.

The only thing better than reading Kate Mulgrew's new book "Born with Teeth", is having it read to you by the author! No she doesn't read it she acts it! the first three chapters on disc 1 went by in a flash! her delicious voice caressing each scene with love and memories! Kate Mulgrew has a delightful command of the English language! she doesn't talk down to her audience, she doesn't need to! we know and expect her to teach us and entertain us as well!

I read some one- and two-star reviews of this book, wondering what those who wrote them were expecting. I realized that they wanted to know about "Star Trek" because they are "Star Trek" fans. I found they wanted to know about Ms. Mulgrew's daughter, but they might not have realized that she told us what she wanted us to know about this, a very difficult, very personal time of her life, and that it turned out better than some similar episodes in the lives of others who have gone through the same thing. To them I say, you weren't reading the same book I read, or you weren't reading it for the same reason I read it.Ms. Mulgrew is intelligent and she likes that you know this about her. She doesn't mind telling us that she is well-read, well-spoken and well-rounded, and I don't mind knowing it. She doesn't mind letting us in on the triumphs and the tragedies in her life, and she describes them with just the right amount of detail. She knows we have our own imaginations.I liked this book, from the start to the rather sudden end, but there was nothing more I needed to know. Ms. Mulgrew's varied and storied career speaks for itself.

Even though her very extreme role as Red on Orange Is The New Black has some of her portrayer's gutsy-ness.This is a funny and at times poignant account of an Irish Catholic kid from Iowa who wanted to be an actress, landed in NYC, and became a soap icon in extremely short order. However, that was only for starters.In this memoir she lays everything out including a daughter that she reluctantly gave away for adoption and the account of finding her daughter decades later, stage acting with Richard Burton, marriage, two sons, divorce, a Star Trek spinoff, an interesting spinoff of Columbo where Peter Falk remains unseen, and eventually more fame and another new following as the unique Red.I liked this book a lot and no small part was Mulgrew herself. It is written with an honesty and openness that is rare. When I read this I could hear her distinctive voice and I could feel her elation as well as her pain. When she discussed her daughter and her relationship with her baby's father, it was one of those life changing events that she might have ignored altogether working from the assumption that the media had been kind and had not hinted that a written in soap pregnancy coincided with her real life pregnancy.Was this book fun? It was so honest, funny, and loving that this was a delightful and easy read due in part to Mulgrew's non-diva working actress persona.End shot? This is a lovely account of talented and charming lady on the way to fame and critical acclaim who quite fortunately sees things realistically.

WOW!!! WOW!! WOW!!! I am certain, had Kate Mulgrew never became an actress, she would have definitely been a poet contender. If it weren't for the fact that this is a memoir, this would be an amazing fictional story, with the twists and turns that would only befall a few. But, add to this that Mulgrew is a tremendous writer. I found myself swept away in the rhythm of the colorful descriptions and language that of course, is only fitting for this tremendous actress and individual. In other words, Born with Teeth is just one of those books that you simply cannot put down. As one who is an avid reader, and has consumed books written from 100 A.D. to today, I truly think this book is, by far, the best memoir written in this century. Mulgrew, please promise us that you will write more books. Today's literature needs more writers like you.

I've been a fan of Kate Mulgrew for a long time-- most of my life, in fact--but somehow had never read her memoir. I bought it recently, almost on a whim, and from the moment it arrived I've struggled to put it down until I'd finished. Reading it supplanted the book I was already reading, and I finished this in much less time than the time available to me seemed to allow for. The woman has had an incredible life-- which is not to say always a good or an enviable one--but it could have been a good deal more boring and still kept me enthralled simply by nature of her writing style. She's a master at conveying entire word pictures, not layered thick, but dry-brush style, so that very few but perfectly chosen words convey thoughts she never actually states. She doesn't have to say, "Then tragedy struck," she simply launches into the tale and you find out it was tragic at the same time she did, hand over your mouth in horror at what you suddenly understand she experienced. She doesn't have to say, "It was blissful," she just says what happened and you're rejoicing with her.I'm still in the afterglow of a delightful book so I could wax eloquent for some time, but suffice it to say, waiting until May for her next book feels way too long.

Mulgrew paints a varied picture in her lifestory that is from the heart, and not a ghostwriter. I found her childhood of interest, her struggles to succeed and her plain joy at performing theater above all other mediums. There are some lingering questions for Star Trek Voyager fans: She doesn't explain whether she achieved lasting peace with Species 8472, whether Janeway's first season hair was made to resemble the bow of the ship, or whether Chakotay's tattoo was actually a map for the way home. Maybe for volume two. Also I would have liked to have read more of her filming of Remo Williams, but that just shows the scattered image I have of her career, from Remo to Voyager. Read this book to find out the real story of the real person!

I lingered as Hester was forced to bear the shame of youth and religiosity. I tried to absorb the despair and find the strength that she was forced to find and soon I learned to love her as though I had known her and her agony personally.Nathanial Hawthorne has brilliantly critiqued the human condition and masterfully described the burden of shame, hypocrisy, vengeance and triumph.This book is one for the ages!A must buy if ever there was one.

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a classic ... which is the main reason I chose to read it. But, besides being a classic, it is also a very good book, and I enjoyed it immensely, though the ending was disappointing in that it was a little vague as to the fates of some of the characters.The book starts off with Hester Prynne, the main character, being led up on the scaffold for the public to gawk at. She has been charged with adultery, which is obviously true because she has a baby and her husband hasn't been around in ages. However, she refuses to give up the name of her fellow adulterer. To her dress is pinned a scarlet letter, and she is released, but she'll spend the rest of her life being shunned and stared at.The real beauty of The Scarlet Letter is the rich language never found in contemporary works. It gives you a real mental workout, and it's absolutely beautiful.The characters are well-developed and interesting. The story is also interesting, though very sad. It shows the strictness of Puritan beliefs in the 1600s, it shows the difference between a person bearing shame and a person bearing secret guilt, it shows the price of sin and the gift of forgiveness. I heard so many times that this book is incredibly boring, but I decided to give it a chance and it actually isn’t that bad. It’s the story of Hester Prynne, who has an affair and gets pregnant and the way that the Puritan community she lives in reacts to that. She is forced to wear a scarlet “A” on her dress so nobody ever forgets that she’s a sinner.It’s always a bit strange reading books like these in the 21st century. On one hand, I understand that it was a different time and people had different values and I don’t think we should pretend history was any better than it actually was. On the other hand, it makes me so mad when I think of the horrible way women used to be treated and the fact that there are still some places in the world where a woman like Hester would be punished even worse than she was in this book.It’s a short book, though it drags in some places because Hawthorne loves unnecessary details. But he’s very good at making you understand exactly what the characters are feeling. The book is full of his observations about human nature and I’d say it’s worth reading because of that even if you have no interest in the plot.

Of course, this is a classic piece of American literature. I had seen a dramatization of it on TV some years ago but until recently had not gotten around to reading it. The book is structured differently from the drama. Modern readers may find the sentences tryingly long and the sentiments unimaginable. However, clearly Hawthorne was a genius for he packs two or three reflections into every sentence and winds them about the characters flawlessly. If one can set aside modern concepts of behavior and Hemingway model sentence structure it is a rewarding read. The book deals intimately with internal conflicts in the characters rather than actions, which principally serve only to divulge thoughts and feelings.

I read The Scarlet Letter in high school and I thought it was one of he driest reads I've ever had to muddle through. Although, now that I'm older with adult children, I decided to read it again. This time it was much better and I was able to sympathize with Hester and admire her attitude. She was a strong woman! I was not pleased with one certain male and thought he was a sniveling idiot with no backbone.I'm glad I gave this book a second chance. Sometimes, the classics we are forced to read in school need life experience to appreciate what the message the author was trying to convey. For me, this was one of those classics.

This is a great book. I tried to read The Scarlet Letter years ago. I put it down after reading about 30 pages because the old English writing was terrible to weed through. This NO FEAR series is wonderful. The left hand side of the book has the original version with the right hand side of the page written in today's language, making it easy to understand. Very nicely done!

Disappointed with the reproduction in this edition. I have many a Dover archival books collected over the years. These images are poorly printed as the black is too heavy causing the detail to be lost in the darker areas. I use these in collages as does my wife and in graphics occasionally in my graphic design work. This particular book is a waste of money. I don't know what to suggest? I have enough well done issues that I can call on but this is one does not cut it.

As a graphic designer with a soft spot for period illustration, I love to collect the Dover books that feature Victorian and old-time copyright free images. I used a number of the images in this book, but since some were part of a larger scene and/or somewhat muddy in quality, they all needed a bit of digital touchup. I realize that the images are vintage, but it's hard to use them when the lines run together and some small details are little more than blobs. The large size of most images reflects their original use as multiple-vignette posters, but again this makes it difficult to isolate a single image from the larger overall scene. To conclude on a high note, it is a valuable collection of antique circus images and I do enjoy having it in my library. My client is also pleased with the amusing images I was able to glean for his website....

I bought just one copy of the book, but I put it under the document camera and on the Interwrite board. I had a very small ESL reading class (only 12 students), and they got a big kick out of most of the stories in this book. All of the students were 6th and 7th grade Hispanic students and they could really relate to the stories about Hispanics in CA who were there their age.The book arrived quickly and I was able to find some free lesson plans online to print out. A great buy and I plan to use the book again with another class of students this year. I'm sure they'll like the stories, too. If I didn't have to buy books myself without reimbursement, I'd sure buy at set of these books!

I saw Gary Soto give a reading at the SF Public Library and found him to be quote wonderful. He is also a true artist who is moved in many direction by his muse. I recommend this book!

I ordered this book to using in my classrooms library, received it and began looking through the stories when I saw it was signed by the author himself! I have since added the book to my home library to keep safe.

It's a really happy and fun book with nice designs and positive quotes. The paper works well with pencils.

Lots of fun pages to color with happy quotes. Coloring page is printed on one side of paper and back includes nice quote. Includes helpful tips for coloring and several colored samples as inspiration. I like Thaneeya's fun inspirational pages.

I love coloring as a form of meditation. After or during a stressful day I bring out my coloring books and markers, (I prefer using a combination of permanent markers along with pencils when I color), and focus in on choosing the right shades and keeping it inside the lines, etc. It is extremely relaxing for one who does not have a lot of natural artistic talent.This particular book is one of the best out there. Not only is it fun to color letters, but the author, Thaneeya McArdle, gives some great tips on pattern techniques, shading, blending, color theory, and color combining along with her outstanding, fun and insightful illustrations. I would recommend any of her other coloring books. I also have purchased "Live For Today" and it is just as wonderful.Adult coloring for meditation, or just for fun, is a simple and inexpensive hobby and it incredibly relaxing, calming and the perfect way to unwind after a strenuous day.

I absolutely LOVE almost all of Thaneeya's books. This one is awesome! Great pictures to color. I am VERY PICKY when it comes to coloring. I am a busy person and very creative so when I have a few minutes to dedicate to a picture I have to REALLY like it. This book is full of them! Great pictures and phrases! This book is so good that the uncolored pages are good enough to keep and/or frame! If you want some inspiration or "JOY" get this!

I love this coloring book! The pictures and sayings are actually what I need to destress. The pages are perforated for easy removal and the paper is good quality. I have ordered a 2nd book to color again some of my favorite pics.

This is perfect for our cantankerous 95 year-old who colors constantly. It gives her a nice subliminal message to see the brighter side of things.

I am an adult and yes I still love to color! The pictures in this book are easy to color and turn out beautifully!
